The Image of Sanctity

This short, moving, film shows the canonical recognition of St Philip's body as part of the celebrations for the four-hundredth anniversary of his canonization.

The purpose of this was to ensure that his mortal remains are conserved for future generations, since it is in coming into contact with the physical that we touch the spiritual. This was an act of devotion, of love, and of tenderness.

The bodies of the saints remind us that holiness is possible, even in these tents, which will one day be folded up so that we can inhabit the eternal dwellings prepared for us. Relics connect us with the sacred and give us hope in the Resurrection of the Body.
