At Faith on Fridays we learnt that after Mary Queen of Scots returned to Edinburgh in August 1561 and restored the Mass at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, John Knox preached in St Giles’ High Kirk: “One Mass is more fearful to me than if ten thousand armed enemies were landed in any part of the realm.”
How right he was to recognize the value of the Mass!
One Mass is in fact of infinite value, since it makes us present at the sacrifice of Calvary.
