More House, Catholic Chaplaincy of the University of York, Heslington, YO10 5DX
More House is the home of the Catholic Chaplaincy at the University of York. It is also a base for many ecumenical chaplaincy events and activities. Several student groups meet on a regular basis at More House as the house is open to any member of the university, of all faiths and none.
More House is a place of welcome for all who want to use it. The door is open with no doorbell to ring, so just wander in!
The house has a comfortable sitting room, group meeting room, library/study and a kitchen with tea, coffee, chocolate and biscuits available for free! We also have a beautiful back garden which is a great place to relax during summer term. Free Wi-Fi access is available. A flipchart, projector and screen are available on request.
The Anglican, Methodist, and Catholic Chaplains pray together three times each week at More House and everyone is welcome to join.
Monday | 9:30am Silent Prayer in ‘The Quiet Place’, followed by coffee in Derwent College.
Wednesday | 12:30pm Midday Prayer in the Chapel at More House, followed by a free bread and soup lunch.
Friday | 9:30am, Morning Prayer according to the Book of Common Prayer, followed by coffee and biscuits.
This chant group is open to those who have already sung Gregorian chant and to those who have no experience at all! The group meets at More House during term time.
